Girrawheen SHS Proud to Host Ministers for Connected Community Schools Announcement

Girrawheen Senior High School was honoured to host Federal Education Minister Jason Clare, State Education Minister Sabine Winton, and State Health Minister Meredith Hammat this morning for a press conference announcing the Connected Community Schools trial.

This initiative, which begins next year, will bring vital well-being, sporting, health and social services into schools, making support more accessible for students and families. Girrawheen SHS is proud to be one of four schools involved in the $21 million, four-year trial, alongside Ashburton Drive Primary School, Clarkson Primary School, and Roebourne District High School.

Our school already sees the benefits of strong community connections through programs that improve attendance and engagement. Today’s announcement reinforces the importance of supporting students’ wellbeing alongside their education. As Minister Clare shared, “When health is strong, education thrives.”

We look forward to working with local organisations and community groups to make this vision a reality and continue building a school environment where every student can succeed.
