As the winner of a state-wide competition “Describe your dream tourism job in 300 words or less”, Year 11 Certificate II in Hospitality student, Loc Vo, was awarded the opportunity to shadow the Managing Director of Tourism WA, Carolyn Turnbull for a day.
The day began at Optus Stadium with a Private Cultural Tour with Nick Abrahams followed by the HALO Experience.
Loc and the team from Tourism WA then went to Head Office in the city to meet with the Digital and Content team and learn about website analytics.
After lunch Loc attended the Tourism Experience Development Managers presentation, where different regional managers talked about tourism in the regions and their development plans. Following this presentation Carolyn read Loc’s winning application submission to her staff and presented him with a certificate and two plush quokkas. MLA Meredith Hammat invited Loc to Parliament House afterwards so that he could brief her on his day as the MD.
What an amazing opportunity from Tourism WA to inspire students who are considering a career in this vibrant sector!
