If you were in Perth City last month, you may have caught a glimpse of Girrawheen Senior High School on the Yagan Square Digital Tower.
The digital tower displayed Girrawheen Senior High School Performing Arts Academy Dance. This wonderful display of stills and video of our students coincided with their performance in collaboration with Youth Ballet WA for Charlesworth’s Annual Gala at the Heath Ledger Theatre. The partnership between our Performing Arts Academy Dance and Youth Ballet WA has been running for three years strong now, where our dancers teach the ballerinas hip hop and they perform together at this highly esteemed event.
This year, the partnership opened even wider, to include the Girrawheen Senior High School Aboriginal boys, who collaborated with the male ballerinas in an exhibition of cultural dance. Our Aboriginal boys spent time teaching the male ballerinas their cultural dance, and in a first ever experience, the two groups danced together to showcase the Aboriginal dance with great pride.
It was an amazing event to witness and we congratulate all our our students who performed on the night.
