Introducing Mia, Our New School Therapy Dog!

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our school community – Mia, a delightful 5-year-old golden retriever!

Mia, along with her dedicated trainer Mrs. Allen, has completed extensive training and the two are now a certified human and canine therapy duo.

Mia is not just any dog; she is here to bring joy, comfort, and support to our students. Known for her love of being made a fuss of, her tennis ball, and food, Mia is sure to become a beloved member of our school family.

Benefits of Therapy Dogs in Schools

Therapy dogs like Mia can have a profound impact on student learning and well-being. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Emotional Support: Mia can help reduce stress and anxiety, providing a calming presence for students during challenging times.
  • Improved Social Skills: Interacting with Mia can encourage students to develop empathy, patience, and communication skills.
  • Enhanced Learning Environment: The presence of a therapy dog can create a more positive and engaging atmosphere, making learning more enjoyable.
  • Physical Health: Spending time with Mia can promote physical activity and overall well-being.

Important Information for Parents

We understand that not all children may be comfortable around dogs. Information has been sent home and posted on Connect for parents to provide non-consent to canine interaction for their child. Additionally, there is an option for parents to opt into establishing a plan to alleviate any fear or phobia their child may have of dogs.

We are excited to welcome Mia and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Welcome, Mia!
