Woah what a great year it was in 2024!
Thank you to all who came along and celebrated our 50th Anniversary with Unity in the Community, our Peace Pole Unveiling Ceremony, and at the 50th Anniversary Time Capsule event. Our school has a lot of pride and it is great to see so many former staff and students still backing us!
In 2024, Girrrawheen SHS was, and will continue to be one of WA’s lead schools in Quality Teaching, where our teachers assist teachers in other schools to improve their teaching programs.
The year saw many highs, with our STEM Club, Performing Arts Academy, and Elite Sports Programs continuing to grow. Students in our STEM Club won the State Solar Car Challenge for the fourth year in a row, before travelling to Sydney to compete in the Australian International Model Solar Car Challenge, where our teams took out the competition, winning 1st and 3rd places. Our Performing Arts Academy was one of 10 top finalists for Drama in yohfest, and brought home many 1st, second and third place trophies from State competitions in Dance. And our Elite Sports Program has exploded in numbers, with Girrawheen SHS moving up a division in the Interschool Athletics Carnival, where our school placed in 2nd place against other schools.
A huge number of students were rewarded for their attendance and good behaviour throughout the year with our RISE Rewards Program, where the top RISE points receiving students from each year level were most recently rewarded with a day at Adventure World! Thank you to Ms Nicoletti who heads our RISE Program.
Congratulations to our 2024 Graduates and to all Girrawheen SHS students for your achievements throughout the year. We know that success looks different for everyone, so we encourage you to be proud of all achievements, no matter how large or small. Thank you to our amazing team of staff who work tirelessly every day, giving students the opportunities to achieve success. Thank you to our partners and volunteers, along with our families and supporters for making 2024 the year it was.
