2024 NAIDOC at Girrawheen Senior High School

Celebrating Culture and Achievement at Girrawheen Senior High School’s 2024 NAIDOC Celebration. KEEP THE FIRE BURNING! BLAK, LOUD AND PROUD.

Girrawheen Senior High School came together to honour NAIDOC Week with a whole school assembly filled with pride and celebration. Special guests and families joined us as we showcased the talent and cultural richness of our community.

Our Aboriginal girls from the STARS Academy and Aboriginal boys from the Clontarf Academy put on a show of cultural dances, shining a spotlight on their deep-rooted pride and growing confidence.

We also had the honour of presenting the School NAIDOC Awards to outstanding students who have excelled in various disciplines:

  • Ella Nolan for Cultural Leadership.
  • Kairo Mamudoski for Endeavour in all areas.
  • Riley Barrett, Makayla Sariago, Shanelle-Ann Dick, and Cadence Gordon for Leadership.
  • Hallee Hill-Eades for her dedication to Volunteering.
  • Alissa Lawrence and Tyson Bunter-Pilbeam for exceptional Personal Growth and Development.
  • Jarrod Donaldson and Dwayne Ryder for outstanding achievement in Sport.

Special congratulations to Riley Barrett, named 2024 NAIDOC Lower School Student of the Year, and Cadence Gordon, awarded 2024 NAIDOC Senior School Student of the Year! 🌟

The essence of our celebration lives on through the stunning photographs captured by STARS Regional Manager, Simon Nimmo. These images portray our STARS girls adorned in traditional attire, holding cultural artefacts, radiating beauty, confidence, and a profound connection to their heritage.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this NAIDOC Celebration a memorable and meaningful event! Together, we continue to honour, celebrate, and educate.
