Girrawheen SHS NAIDOC Celebrations were a vibrant display of Aboriginal culture and pride today.
The whole-school assembly was treated to captivating cultural dances performed by our talented Aboriginal Girls and Boys, including a group of enthusiastic Year 4-6 boys from Roseworth Primary School. The performance was accompanied by the mesmerizing sounds of Daymon Eades and his didgeridoo, creating a truly immersive experience.
The audience, comprised of parents, family members, STARS Regional Manager WA, Simon Nimmo, Girrawheen SHS Board Chair Stephen Brown, and representatives from Roseworth Primary, including Carol Foley AIEO and Catrina Parker Education Assistant, enthusiastically joined in with loud applause and rhythmic clapping as they were captivated by the dancers’ moves.
Special thanks is given to Retz Oddy, who performed alongside the boys, showcasing his talent and adding an extra touch of excitement. Additionally, we give Lou Ockerby recognition for her hard work behind the scenes, ensuring the girls’ performance was flawless.
A highlight of the day was the spirited dance-off between the boys and girls, creating an electric atmosphere and earning the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd. The level of cultural pride displayed by our students was truly inspiring.
The Girrawheen SHS NAIDOC Celebrations were a resounding success, showcasing the talent, unity, and cultural richness of our school community.
