Mathematics Academy

Encouraging the exploration of mathematics

The Mathematics Academy is an after-school program that seeks to develop the understanding of key mathematic concepts for students who aspire to higher levels of learning than is typically available in a classroom.

Our team of committed mathematics teachers and volunteers provide tuition and support for students seeking extension and advancement in this area.

The program allows interested and dedicated students to explore mathematical ideas in a social environment. They work within groups to develop understanding of key concepts and gain confidence.

The Mathematics Academy develops mathematical skills in:

  • Communication
  • Fluency
  • Problem Solving
  • Reasoning
  • Understanding

Although aimed at students seeking university entrance, the Academy is also utilised by students on vocational pathways to assist them with career prerequisites.

Summer School

Students regularly attending Mathematics Academy are invited to the Mathematics Summer School that takes place during the summer holidays. Both Lower and Senior School students are invited to take part.

This intensive five-day program has been running for five years and is typically run at one of the local universities.
