A warm welcome back to the school year. Staff and I especially welcome all new families to Girrawheen Senior High School. It was pleasing to observe our students begin their first week at school for the year. Senior Students have already begun components of their courses in Term 4, therefore ensconced in their learning area programs. Year 8 students are conscientiously transitioning into High School, learning new processes and procedures.
It is with pleasure that I introduce myself as principal for Girrawheen Senior High School. Prior to the commencement of school I was able to meet with my Executive Staff and the School Management Team to prepare for the weeks ahead. I wish to thank those who have made me feel welcome, particularly individuals who have contributed to my smooth transition to Girrawheen SHS. I look forward to working with my team of committed, enthusiastic and highly professional staff. I am also eager to continue the strong partnership with parents and the wider community. Shortly I will be meeting with School Council and P&C to progress the good work being achieved at this school, as well as on developing the direction of Girrawheen Senior High School as an Independent Public School. I am privileged to be leading this school and look forward to meeting with parents.
At the first School Council and P&C meetings I will formally introduce myself and a more detailed outline of my educational and leadership background. In short, over my 25 years with the Department of Education I have led a Kindergarten to Year 12 campus and have been an administrator of schools for over a decade. For 4 years I have been a Director of Schools in country and metropolitan areas, responsible for over 70 schools and more recently, I was a principal for a school in the South Metropolitan Region. I come with extensive knowledge of the Department Of Education’s direction for Public Schools. I sincerely look forward to meeting with you.
